I’ve heard people say about 12 font. It really can not be that small because in the future it’ll turn into a blob and that is something you do not want.

When you go get your tattoo, ask the tattooer if you can get it small. Usually you get alot of great tattoo artists who are very talented and can do that. :) It doesnt hurt to find out before hand and call them.

“I have a weakness” is right – if it’s too small, it’s illegible. And what looks clear on paper will look less clear on skin, because of the nature of the medium. Looking at my own wrist to guesstimate, I’d say you’re gonna need about 4″x2″ or so. I know when I got my tat, the tat artist told me I was insane to think I could fit what I wanted on the space I said I wanted. So I told him to just judge for himself and size it however he thought would look good, and that’s how I wound up with a 5″x8″ tat on my back. I dont regret it though, because it’s absolutely gorgeous.

the problem with writing too small is that after a couple of years, the ink will bleed together and you won’t be able to read it anymore. Bar code tattoo’s do the same thing.

You can get it as small as you want it. There are virtually no limits. The question is how long do you want it to be legible. You really should not get any font smaller than a 1/4 in. With a nice script you can get away with 1/4 in size font.
