Use either conjunctions or semicolons to fix the sentences. Better yet, if you can fix the sentence in two ways, even better!
1. Keeping a journal is satisfying, I prefer taping my thoughts to writing them down.
2. Our grandparents watched the Army-McCarthy hearings in 1954, we watched the O. J. Simpson trial in 1995.
3. I have never been to Italy, I’d like to go, having studied both Latin and Italian.
4. The lights went out we started to scream.
5. Some students work for their tuition, that is why they don’t have money for clothes or food.
6. Although you may know your way around a car, you shouldn’t try to repair major engine problems on the interstate on a Sunday in the pouring rain without tools.
7. She wants to be like her mother, in particular, she wishes that she had her mother’s strength.
