Before that I was would generallybe considered an A- student but some issue where going on… I had more than a 4.0 G.P.A with weighted classes, but it has been brought down to a 3.8 I’m still in my junior year, but I ‘m working hard to make up for last semester, I am in all honors and AP classes. I am a Afro Amer. female and interested in majoring in Biomedical Engineering.
Can I still get into Yale, Columbia, Boston U if I had 1 Jr. sem. w/ 2 D’s and one C but later got all “A’s”?

Nope — especially since Biomedical Engineering is such an impacted major.
I think you should be fine with BU. Yale and Columbia should be harder. In some ways, it may depend upon what you took that bad semester. If the bad grades were in less-relevant courses, it may have less of an impact, but keep in mind, that these schools, being Ivies, are almost impossible to get into in the first place. You will need to have a good justification for your application to overcome it – if some tragedy occurred, your chances are better than if you just got bored.
I don’t like saying this because it comes across as insulting, but because you are an African-American you will probably still get in. Also, you can write them an explanation of what happened your junior year, or tell them in an interview. Good luck!
Just wanted to make a note – you should also try for John Hopkins. That is one of the best universities in the country, and I’m pretty sure they offer your major. Keep your grades up, and schedule interviews with the universities asap… speak to admissions representatives about what each college looks for in its applicants. Then, try to tailor your applications to each specific school. For example, if one school puts GPA at the top of the list but they don’t care about extracurriculars, don’t include a 5-page list of every club you’ve ever been in. On the other hand, if a school cares about volunteer service, make sure you include a clear description of all your volunteer work. This is why scheduling an interview with admissions is the most helpful way to go about this whole college situation. Good luck!
